Hi, my name is Beth Templeton Phillips and I want you to
be as happy and at ease in this 100 year old farmhouse as I am. I will be your hostess during
your visit. This was my Grandmother's home place and I have lived here off and on all my
life. I teach second grade at Sparta Elementary School during the week and enjoy having new
friends stay at the Bed & Breakfast on weekends. If you have a love for old farmhouses and
the quiet of the country, then this is where you want to be. Take a look around the
place.
Allen Farm House is set on a 150 acre farm in the beautiful
Blue Ridge Mountains of northwestern North Carolina. Guests stay in a 103 year old farmhouse
that has been restored to its former beauty. There is a large yard and a mountain stream that
runs by the farmhouse.
ACCOMMODATIONS Please make yourself comfortable and feel at home in the big old farmhouse. Guest have several rooms to relax in. Charming and comfortable bedrooms, a parlor with antique furniture, a large dining room, a screened porch to watch birds from and a wonderful front porch where guests can swing or rock. Allen Farmhouse can accommodate up to four people in the two bedrooms (each room has a double bed) and your bath. To maintain the guest's privacy, I only have one party staying at the Farmhouse at a time. Your comfort is what is important. Allen Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast consistently maintains a Health Sanitation Grade "A" rating with the State of North Carolina. |
Please pick any one breakfast that looks good to you.
All breakfasts include fresh juice, coffee, toast, and homemade jelly.
If just being in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains is not enough for you, don't despair. Allen Farmhouse has 2 mountain streams on the property that are wonderful for wading or catching crawfish. There are wild turkey, deer, and an abundance of birds to watch, all without leaving the front porch. The farmhouse is 1/4 mile from the New River. The New River offers many great outdoor activities. For the fishermen, check out New River Excursions. Or, there's New River Outfitters on Hwy. 221. Bring your fishing poles, inner-tubes, and canoes. (There are several canoe rentals within a 30 minute drive.) It is a very enjoyable stroll to the river, there are several places to have a picnic lunch.
When you come to the mountains, there are plenty of activities or day trips to plan. There are 4 golf courses within a 30 minute drive. Among many other things available, Alleghany offers hiking, canoeing, tennis, mountain biking, cross country skiing, horsebackriding, antique shops, craft fairs, and mountain music. If all of these activities are not enough, check out the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway. Allen Farmhouse will be glad to direct you to any of the above activities, or to any special activities that may be taking place during your stay.
